"It's got the storage containers... it's got the lights... it's got more safety to it," one staff member said describing the vehicle offered by Secondary Roads. Supervisors discussed whether to buy vehicles from internal departments versus purchasing from dealers, potential savings from using used beams and equipment, and the need to secure equipment on county vehicles for staff safety.
Supervisors agreed to a budget amendment process so the auditor can place funds for a purchase and other items (boring machine cost-sharing was discussed as roughly $44,000 with county to pay half at delivery). The board then moved and approved a motion to permit interdepartmental vehicle transfers under the forthcoming budget amendment framework.
