The Town Board on July 28 authorized Supervisor Corcoran to move forward with a solar‑panel installation at the Marlborough Community Center. The board approved the measure by roll call (Yeas: 4, Nays: 0). Councilman Cauchi moved the authorization; Supervisor Corcoran seconded.
Supervisor Corcoran said the Ulster County grant covers matching funds up to $200,000 and that "The total project cost would be $192,696.00 which includes everything." He told the board the net cost to the Town is expected to be $63,000 after state and federal grants. Monthly electric costs for the Community Center currently range between $2,500 and $3,000, and the panels are expected to last about 30 years with a projected payoff period of under 10 years.
Board members said installing panels on the rear of the building will preserve the front facade's aesthetics. The authorization directs the Supervisor to pursue grants and contracts necessary to complete the project; the board did not adopt a contract award at the meeting and further procurement steps were implied. The motion carried unanimously with Councilman Molinelli recorded as absent.
