Resident urges stronger sustainability rules: trees, dark skies, solar canopies and green roofs

Betty Sharp of 10282 County Road 288 addressed the commission during public comment to press for stronger sustainability and design measures citywide and within upcoming plans.
Sharp urged the commission to begin public input on policies now and to include them in pending items such as the Trinity Lehi concept plan. She specifically listed policy suggestions, saying "Discontinuation of tree waivers, heavy increase of tree removal fines," and advocated for an Anna urban‑forest proposal, dark‑sky and solar lighting standards, native‑plant requirements, green roofs, permeable concrete and other water‑conservation measures. Sharp asked commissioners to put questions on the record even if they go unanswered and noted the community will vote on a major bond and downtown design later in the year.
Her remarks were recorded as public comment; staff did not take action on the policy requests at this meeting but commissioners received the suggestions for future consideration.
