Clare Duran, a special guest at the village’s July 28 special meeting, asked the board to waive or donate the $250 kitchen rental fee for an event she is organizing on Aug. 16, saying sponsor money had already been spent on crafts and program supplies. Trustee Nelson moved to waive the rental fee and said he would support the request; Trustee Jaeger seconded. The board voted unanimously in favor of waiving the fee, while Duran agreed to provide the refundable deposit and to clean the kitchen after the event.
Duran told the board she would use any remaining funds for food and supplies and that volunteers would help with cooking. "She solemnly swears to clean the kitchen spic and span," the transcript records. The motion specified the deposit would be returned if the kitchen is left clean; no additional conditions were recorded.
Why it matters: the vote allows a community event to use village facilities at no rental cost while preserving the deposit requirement to ensure the kitchen is cleaned afterward.
