Kincaid trustees approve $12,745 dam repairs; inspection tabled

The Village of Kincaid board voted April 14 to approve dam repairs estimated at $12,745 plus the cost of any concrete blocks, according to Christian Vacker, the village foreman. Vacker told trustees the work would be paid from the lake fund and that money had been set aside previously for repairs.
Vacker also reported the Illinois Department of Natural Resources sent a letter requiring a dam inspection this year; trustees voted separately to table that inspection. Trustee Nelson asked whether the lake fund had sufficient balance; Merano said there was money that should be spent from the lake fund. "It is twelve thousand seven hundred and forty-five dollars plus the cost of any concrete blocks," Vacker said when describing the contractor quote.
Why it matters: The board authorized repair work to address leakage and structural concerns at the dam while delaying the formal IDNR inspection. Trustees did not set a firm schedule for the repair start date at the meeting.
