Eagle Scout projects and tributes to late public information officer highlight public comment period

Public comment at the July 21 meeting featured several community items and condolences for the late Public Information Officer Christa Limone.
Jacob Parkerton (Troop 238) outlined an Eagle Scout project to assemble and donate high-end trauma kits to schools and the B&G Club; he said he has arranged for St. Joseph’s Stop the Bleed program to train staff and hopes to provide a recorded training for those who cannot attend. Superintendent Michele Pillari said she will contact him to schedule the training and expressed her support. Board member Andrew Mingione, who noted his career as a firefighter and EMT, offered to assist.
Anthony Billson (Troop 26) described an Eagle Scout project to install flag poles for the Memorial House System; he reported donated concrete, confirmed no permit is required though a utility mark-out by PSE&G is needed, and said the troop will use a GoFundMe to cover any remaining costs. Venous Gunasekera and Jen Catalano introduced themselves as the new president and vice president of the WPEA. Mayor Tracey Kallert and representatives of the Memorial HSA requested memorial recognitions and a scholarship in memory of Christa Limone; the board acknowledged condolences and support for those requests.
