The Library Director told trustees the library will close on March 11 for a full staff training day funded by the Friends and the foundation. The planned program includes scenario-based de'escalation training with the South Burlington Police Department, a presentation from the Howard Center outreach team, and continuing'education information from the state library consultant, Joy Whorlin.
The director emphasized the training aims to build staff confidence in interacting with patrons and to strengthen teamwork: "We're doing a lot of work to try and empower all staff to feel good at having interactions with all patrons," she said. The library will provide an optional breakfast and a professional photographer for updated staff headshots as part of the day's activities.
