The Library Director presented a static PDF export of an interactive GIS map that shows library-card holder density across South Burlington, telling the board the visualization uses color shading from yellow (denser) to pink (less dense) and that an airport quadrant appears blank on the map. The director said the map could help target outreach efforts such as tabling, mailings or flyers and offered to share an anonymized version with the foundation, noting it contains no identifying addresses.
Board members pressed for clarifications about the map''s population basis and whether density was calculated per acre or by household. The Director said the visual uses population density and land footprint and offered to follow up with a percentage of residents holding library cards if the board wants that statistic. "We were getting a dot before...but we improved the visualization," the director said when explaining how multifamily addresses appear on the map.
