Trustees revisited the village’s police‑chief hiring process and the candidate’s background. Mayor Tony Pezze said the candidate had been cleared in an investigation but that social media and online reports had created concern among residents. He told the board the candidate had recently sought a lawyer‑drafted, long‑term employment contract which some trustees found inappropriate for a municipal hire.
Trustee Nelson and others urged that the village set clear expectations, implement a short probationary evaluation (six weeks and then six months), and require the new chief to focus on Kincaid duties rather than outside work while acclimating. "Give him a chance," Mike Lawrence said during discussion, urging trustees to allow the candidate to prove himself. Several trustees agreed they were comfortable offering an initial contract and monitoring performance, but remained wary of a lawyer‑proposed ten‑year guaranteed contract.
