Lake‑lot renters urge Kincaid trustees to include them in contract talks over storage fees and seasonal access

Lori Stewart‑McDaniel, speaking as a special guest for lake‑lot residents, told the Village of Kincaid board that renters who have invested time and money in the campground are “here today simply asking to be heard.” She said lot holders have cleared areas, installed power and maintained common spaces and that they feel excluded from recent contract discussions.

Renters described two different versions of the lot agreements circulating among tenants and trustees, and disputed a proposed storage fee. Several speakers said they were told their lots were year‑round when they joined the wait list. One resident noted mobility concerns: the only designated parking is a quarter to half‑mile from some lots, making access difficult for an 89‑year‑old or a parent with two babies.

Mayor Tony Pezze acknowledged the confusion and said the board needs to reconcile the contract language and form a committee: “We need to fix the lots before adding any more,” he said, and asked staff and trustees to produce a list of prioritized improvements and review the differing contracts. Board members suggested meeting with lake renters and bringing a revised contract for another vote.

Board members and lake renters also discussed infrastructure priorities the village should tackle first — dam repair, an RV dump station and a boat ramp — and the possibility of installing streetlights and trimming low trees. Several trustees encouraged renter participation in committee meetings, and board members agreed to have the village attorney review contract inconsistencies before changes are implemented.
