Treasurer Beverly Merano said Illinois Department of Transportation has given the village permission to transfer COVID-era rebuild funds—identified in the meeting as $99,000—out of the Motor Fuel Tax fund into the General Fund to cover engineering fees for a sidewalk project. Mayor Tony Pezze and trustees discussed timing and were told the project could possibly start this summer.
"...IDOT has given us permission to transfer that money out of Motor Fuel Tax into the General Fund for engineering fees," Merano said. Merano also reported that the project extension runs until April 26, 2026, giving the village additional time to use the funds. Trustees asked procedural questions about the extension and eligibility; no formal motion was recorded at the meeting to commit the funds to a specific contractor or start date.
