The Decatur Planning & Zoning Commission on Aug. 4 recommended that city council approve the rezoning request ZC260003 to designate the annexed parcel at 3260 S. US Highway 287 as Thoroughfare Business (C-2).
"It's zoned single family in the extraterritorial jurisdiction, agriculture and rural living, proposed an automotive dealership and the annexation triggers a rezoning requirement. Proposed is thoroughfare business C 2 which will be consistent throughout that area," Planning Director Lisa Hannon said when she entered the staff report for the rezoning.
There were no public speakers on the item. A motion to recommend approval was made and seconded (the transcript identifies the mover as Commissioner Eileen Cross and the seconder as Commissioner John Lanier). Voice votes were called and the motion carried; the rezoning recommendation will be forwarded to city council for final action.
If city council approves the rezoning, subsequent platting, civil-plan review and any required TxDOT access approvals will be addressed during development review.
