Montrose council declines slurry seal for North Fuller Ave; will reassess roads for 2027

On Aug. 3, 2026, the Montrose City Council met in a special session at the Montrose Community Center and decided not to add North Fuller Avenue to the city’s 2026 slurry-seal program, citing the street’s condition and project costs. Mayor Susan Painter presided; councilmembers Vogel, Scheff and Binder were present for the discussion.
Council members weighed the type of traffic on North Fuller Avenue and the pavement condition against projected project costs and concluded that the treatment was not appropriate for 2026. Meeting minutes state that the council "decided not to pursue a slurry seal treatment at this time." The council also agreed that all city roads will be evaluated in upcoming meetings to inform the 2027 street plan.
