Comal County OKs supplemental law-enforcement contracts with Water Oriented Recreation District

Commissioners approved several annual supplemental agreements with the Comal County Water Oriented Recreation District (WORD) to provide additional law-enforcement resources at high-visitor locations.
A WORD representative described the agreements as continuing partnerships that supplement county law enforcement when visitation increases. One agreement covered Constable Precincts 1 and 4; another incorporated all four constable offices so each had input on the contract; and a third, later discussed, covered Sheriff's Office supplemental patrols on Canyon Lake, the Lower Guadalupe River, River Road campgrounds and river teams. Captain Smith spoke on behalf of the Sheriff's Office, thanked staff and partners for coordination, and requested approval of the Sheriff's contract.
Commissioner Leacock moved and Commissioner Crownover seconded approval of the agreements; the court approved each by voice/raised-hand vote. Commissioners and staff expressed appreciation for the partnerships and noted the liaison role to support continuity.
The agreements are annual supplemental contracts intended to augment county law enforcement during peak seasons; no new funding amounts were read into the public record during the meeting.
