Comal County authorizes interlocal with Burnett County as jail beds dwindle to 25 male beds

"As of this morning, we were at 521 inmates," Sergeant Hernandez said, adding that "we are down to 25 male beds that we have available for housing." The sergeant explained that housing restrictions further reduce usable beds and said, "should this agreement be approved, there is going to be a need for its usage in the very immediate future."
Commissioner Leacock moved to approve the interlocal; Commissioner Crownover seconded and the motion passed by voice vote. The court did not specify a timeline or projected inmate transfers in public session.
