City staff presented the certified 2026 appraisal roll and a set of tax-rate scenarios and recommended keeping the tax rate at last year’s 0.480052 per $100 valuation.
Finance staff reported the certified total taxable value at $2,647,906,182 (an increase of about $154.4 million from the prior year). Under the recommended 0.480052 rate the city would receive roughly the same levy as last year; the finance presentation showed alternatives (0.49, 0.50, 0.51 and the voter-approval 0.520535 rate) and quantified the revenue impacts. The council voted to set a public hearing on Sept. 8, 2026 and to schedule the rate vote for Sept. 15, 2026. Council discussion emphasized balancing services and fiscal sustainability while minimizing immediate property-tax increases.
