The San Elizario Independent School District Board of Trustees on May 14 adopted a resolution canvassing the returns and declaring the results of the May 3, 2025 General Election for three board seats.
Board President Eduardo Chavez read the resolution and Sandra Licon moved to adopt it; Myrna Hernandez seconded the motion, which the board voted to pass. "Motion to adopt the resolution canvassing the returns and declaring the results of the General Election held May 3, 2025 for the purpose of electing three members to the Board of Trustees of the San Elizario Independent School District in Places One, Two, and Three," the meeting record states.
Following the canvass, President Chavez issued Certificates of Election to the successful candidates: Lorenzo Luevano (Place 1), Axel Lopez (Place 2) and Alexis Ann Tellez (Place 3). The issuance was recorded in the open session with no motion required. The board did not record a vote tally in the public minutes for the canvass action.
The certification is the formal step that finalizes the district's election results and enables the new trustees to assume duties as prescribed by district policy and state law. The board announced upcoming meetings, including a budget workshop May 21 and a regular meeting on June 11.
