Delaney cited national and local water quality concerns and federal and state authorizations that govern Canyon Lake, noting that the EPA recently identified pharmaceuticals and certain persistent contaminants as priority wastewater contaminants. "I ask that the commission and judge apply equivalent or put pressure on TCEQ to apply equivalent protections by implementing the same water quality protections and discharge standards that the Highland Lakes has had," she said, and offered to provide historical data and documentation to staff.
