Sierra Vista and other park projects move toward fall completion; new public art installed

Park planning manager Nemo told the commission that Sierra Vista Park construction has made significant progress: new play features, shade structures, a flat soccer field and interpretive signage are in place, construction fencing should come down next week, and the project may open before October though the latest estimate is an October opening. Staff warned of normal establishment periods for plantings that can delay public access.
Recreation staff also showcased public art installations at Lagoon Valley, including five metal "cows" by Philip Glasshoff and a recently completed Alebrije sculpture by Tom Ari Dodge; mosaic tile work and final sealing for the mist pad remain in progress with final elements expected to be installed within days. Staff said the Centennial Bike Park and several other CIP projects are expected to be in construction this year.
