Survey shows Wildwood respondents prioritize rural character, open space and environmental stewardship

The consultant who analyzed the city’s validation survey told the committee that maintaining Wildwood’s rural character was the top priority among respondents, followed by preserving open space. Debbie Ward of SilverTablet cited both quantitative answers and coded open‑ended comments in her presentation.
Ward summarized environmental priorities by percentage: "93% preservation of woodlands and open space, 92% minimizing environmental impact from development, and 90% protection of groundwater aquifer and its quality," and noted that maintaining a healthy deer population had the lowest favorable score among listed environmental items (about 72%). She also said the majority of respondents had lived in Wildwood more than 20 years and that parks, trails and recreation consistently ranked highly in residents’ priorities.
Ward added that section 3 of the report combines quantitative and qualitative coding and that open‑ended responses are included in an appendix broken down by ZIP code.
