The Sinton Independent School District Board of Trustees approved a consent agenda at its June 6 regular meeting that included financial reports for May, multiple budget amendments and personnel items. Board Member Sam P. Lankford moved to accept the consent agenda; Board Member Israel Ethan Garza seconded and the motion passed unanimously 7-0.
Key budget adjustments included an increase of $33,100 from fund balance to the Facilities Maintenance and Operations fund to refinish middle school gym floors and a $504,100 increase in the General Fund Instruction category to align salaries and benefits with the Teacher Incentive Allotment. The consent agenda also authorized transfers to cover instrument repairs and professional travel and recorded approximately $78.9 million in total district investments for May 2025.
Personnel actions acknowledged by the board included several new hires (Michael Gonzales, Erica Eicher-Hernandez, Samantha Longino, Kiersten Pounders, John Varnell and Alma Williams) and accepted resignations from Kadie Berry and Bryanne Hamilton. The board also approved routine items including minutes, inventory disposal of outdated Welder Elementary instructional materials, and an audit engagement letter with GreenGrowth CPAs for the fiscal year ending Aug. 31, 2025; the audit engagement fee is listed at $38,394 and the work is expected to begin in October with a report by December 2025.
The consent agenda contained multiple vendor payments and contract approvals, including an invoice from Steel Dynamics for $297,716 recorded as a duplicate-payment reimbursement related to a Chapter 313 agreement, and Region 1 Cooperative purchases such as lab food service billing. These items were presented as part of the consent packet provided to trustees through TASB's electronic board meeting system.
