Seguin ISD spotlights student leaders, awards and campus practices
Summary
Trustees recognized students and staff across multiple campuses and heard SSAT leaders propose mentorship and cafeteria inclusion initiatives; Rodriguez Elementary highlighted teacher learning and student leadership efforts.
Seguin ISD trustees recognized Students of the Month from McQueeney Elementary, Rodriguez Elementary, Briesemeister Middle School and Mercer-Blumberg Learning Center and presented the Superintendent's Apple Award to Troy DePalermo, robotics and technology teacher at Barnes Middle School.
Members of the Superintendent's Student Advisory Team presented plans to pair high school SSAT members with younger students in a mentorship program and to encourage students to sit with peers who may be eating alone. Rodriguez Elementary Principal Ofelia Santiago and staff described efforts to build a culture of continuous learning for teachers and leadership opportunities for students.
Trustees congratulated students and staff and Ms. Allen presented a graduation cord to SSAT member Roxanne Diaz. These recognitions were presented as part of routine board acknowledgments during School Board Recognition Month.
