Mandy, the district's director of special education, told the board the district had received a draft MOU and a counterproposal that legal counsel was reviewing. She said the timing is urgent because "if the students don't have their 1 on 1 aids or actual physical nurses, they can't start school because they're not safe" and that the draft MOU affects three students. Board members discussed scheduling a short special meeting or using a Friday records-commission slot to finalize the MOU if legal sign-off arrives.
Supporters of postponement said delaying action would ensure the MOU aligns with district contracts and the GMLEA master agreement while protecting student safety. One trustee asked staff to push for a response by the end of the business day Friday; staff said they would do their best and that legal review was the remaining step. The board amended the postponement to include the related agenda item for related services and approved tabling both items until the MOU is finalized.
