Grimes County Engineer John Stiber presented the results of annual bids and recommended awards across multiple categories, which the commissioners approved.
Stiber recommended Rockin' W Services (primary) and Prestige Land Services (secondary) for contract mowing, Sanders Creek Construction for bridge-construction labor, Heist Trucking LLC (low) and Rhodes Transportation (secondary) for hauling, and two suppliers for HDPE/PP culverts. He also recommended renewals for asphalt and base material contracts and several sole-source exemptions for specialty materials. The court moved and approved the package of awards and renewals.
Stiber noted three bid categories (portland cement, hydrated lime slurry and reinforced concrete structures) received no responses and said the county would continue to procure those items under purchasing policy rather than rebid immediately. He also said legislative procurement thresholds increasing to $100,000 could ease procurement for large items going forward.
