Commissioners receive Stoneham dumpsite audit; court schedules follow-up on security and cash-handling policies

Commissioner David Tullis asked the court to set item 6h (the Stoneham dumpsite audit) apart from the consent agenda after the county auditor's office identified deficiencies in security and cash handling at the site. "In the process of this audit, they've uncovered some deficiencies that will require the commissioner's court to address some policy considerations with regards to security and cash handling at the different dump sites," Tullis said, and he asked the court to schedule additional discussion for the Sept. 17 meeting.
After discussion the court approved receiving the Stoneham dumpsite audit as a standalone item and carried a motion to accept the audit. Commissioners instructed staff to return on Sept. 17 to consider developing new policies on cash handling and security at county dump sites.
