Election administrator reports software fixes and agrees to estimate HB 2753 cost to Grimes County

Rachel Walker, Grimes County election administrator, told commissioners that August was a busy month of testing the state's Verity 2.0 election system and reporting issues to the vendor and state. "Thankfully as of yesterday it looks like most of those bugs and issues have been fixed," Walker said, though she added there remain some kinks and noted she could now pull voter and street-list reports for the county.
Walker also described operational preparations for the November election: creating and publishing the election-worker schedule (193 shifts), appointing election judges for one-year terms, moving equipment to a new storage warehouse and completing a Verity software upgrade to version 2.7. Judge and commissioners asked Walker to prepare a calculation of the county's additional cost to implement HB 2753 (which extends early-voting hours), covering staffing and potential extra polling locations.
