The Grimes County Commissioners Court authorized formation of a base oversight committee to guide the jail expansion renovation project and directed Facilities Director Rodney Floyd to finalize the committee list.
Judge Joe Fouth named the base membership to include Rodney Floyd, Sheriff Don Veil, Lieutenant Michael Silva, Chief Deputy Martha Smith, Captain Ashley Brockett, County Judge Joe Fouth and Commissioner David Tullis. Rodney Floyd said the committee will draft the project document and return it to the court for review; the motion to accept the stated membership passed unanimously.
Floyd also asked that additional departmental roles (auditor, IT) be "stair-stepped" into the committee as specific phases (e.g., budgeting, technical implementation) require their participation. The court asked Floyd to provide a final membership roster and schedule for meetings before the next regular session.
