Maybrook Board adopts amended FY 2026–27 budget, draws $75,000 from fund balance

Mayor Dennis Leahy opened the April 27 special meeting at 7:00 p.m. at the Maybrook Senior Center and described the budget timeline and recent public input. “To begin our meeting, I’d like to provide a timeline for the Village Board and the 2026–2027 budget process,” Leahy said, noting the tentative budget was posted March 20 and a public hearing occurred April 20.
Leahy told the board he had consulted auditors and that the auditors recommended the village not exceed $75,000 in fund balance usage. The mayor presented a package of specific line‑item reductions, totaling $101,643, intended to lessen the levy increase; he said the tentative levy increase of $400,000 had been reduced to $298,357 under the proposed changes.
The board approved a motion to use $75,000 from the fund balance (motion by Trustee Daryl Capozzoli, seconded by Trustee William Treco), passed 5–0. A series of subsequent motions enacted the line‑item adjustments, each approved unanimously: reductions to the Contingent Account (A.05.1990.400), Playground Contractual and Playground Equipment (A.05.7140.400 and A.05.7140.200), and adjustments to Mayor and Board personal services lines.
Trustee William Giannico moved and Trustee Treco seconded adoption of the FY 2026–2027 budget as amended; the board polled Aye 5–0 (Giannico, Woznick, Capozzoli, Treco, Leahy). The meeting adjourned at 7:13 p.m.
