"We kind of started with those zoning code amendments in 2023 to address housing supply and housing choice," the staff member said, and staff said they will propose zoning-map changes aligned with the comprehensive-plan future land-use map rather than leaving that step to developers.
Staff also described a separate parking study intended to identify areas that are over- or under-parked and to inform zoning-code recommendations. On parking, the staff member summarized the early finding: "For the most part, we're over parked." Commissioners pressed for timing; staff said a draft comprehensive plan was expected next month with public open houses planned late summer and a zoning-code overhaul to follow after consultant procurement.
