City updates progress on East Side development, engineers and covenants still pending

City staff reported additional seeding plans and erosion-controls for East Side development, said eight lots have sold, and said final covenants are pending review by Kansas Housing Resource Corporation lawyers before full construction proceeds.
City administrator Dallas updated council on progress at the East Side development, saying engineers and the general contractor are coordinating to meet stormwater prevention (SWPPP) requirements and that the city will reseed with a Kentucky bluegrass/rye mix plus oats after retention-pond work is complete.
"We have to, kinda let the engineers and the general contractor work it out between themselves through formal channels... and we're also gonna have Adams come in and fill in our retention ponds... So the mowing should be happening within a 7 day period," Dallas said. He added that eight lots have already sold and the developer is pursuing purchase of the remaining lots, but Kansas Housing Resource Corporation's lawyers still need to finalize related covenants.
Council members expressed interest in pinning down start dates for remedial work and in coordinating with economic development now that a new economic development director starts Monday.
