Long Lake outlines new Raquette Lake highway garage plans; temporary truck storage offered by fire department

Town officials reported progress on a replacement highway garage in Raquette Lake at the Nov. 19 Long Lake Town Board meeting and discussed temporary vehicle storage during construction.
Deputy Supervisor Clark J. Seaman reported that "the old Highway Garage in Raquette Lake has been taken down to make room for the new highway garage." Paul Wilson gave a brief rundown of planned features: adding double windows to the back of the building, added storage, in-floor heating and a sloping floor with drains. Highway staffer Mike Lamphear told the board "the Girls Camp does not have room to put the highway trucks in their garage while the new garage is being built." The Raquette Lake Fire Department offered to store the trucks in its old garage for "$200 a month plus pay utilities."
Councilman Thomas L. Donnelly asked when construction would finish; Lamphear replied it should be completed "at the beginning of May 2026." The board did not take a formal vote on design specifics at this meeting; the discussion recorded design preferences and a proposed temporary storage arrangement.
