Long Lake seeks state coordination for aging water mains as NYSDOT 2028 road project approaches; FEMA denies pond debris removal

Supervisor Clay J. Arsenault told the board on Dec. 17 that Marlene Martin of the New York State Department of Health and engineers from CHA met with Water Supervisor Keith Austin and others to review Long Lake's water-system concerns and to discuss potential new sources and funding. Arsenault said CHA engineers advised that the section of concern may be added to the planned NYSDOT 2028 road project and the Town is hoping to secure funding and coordinate the water-main work with the State.
Water Supervisor Keith Austin raised concern about the age and depth of the water mains under the road. The board packet includes a Long Lake water-system inspection from Marlene Martin, according to the Supervisor's report.
Paul Wilson filed final paperwork with DHSES/FEMA to close out the Reservoir Road bridge project, and the Town reported receipt of those funds. Separately, the debris-removal portion of the Jennings Park Pond repair project was denied by FEMA; Supervisor Arsenault said the Town will submit an appeal letter to DHSES per FEMA's recommendation.
Arsenault also said he has been working with Senator Mark Walczyk's office regarding DDSO homes on Kickerville and Mix Road as potential opportunities for the community; the board received the Raquette Lake Preservation Foundation newsletter in the packet.
