Long Lake authorizes 2026 dog-sheltering agreement with Tri-Lakes Humane Society for $1,000

The Long Lake Town Board on Dec. 17 authorized the Supervisor to execute a 2026 dog-sheltering agreement with Tri-Lakes Humane Society, Inc., a not-for-profit located in Saranac Lake, Franklin County, to provide pound or shelter services required under Article 7 of the New York State Agriculture and Markets Law. The agreement covers seizure, care, disposition, adoption or humane euthanasia of unredeemed dogs and compliance with Sections 113, 114 and 115 of the Agriculture and Markets Law.
The contract term is Jan. 1 through Dec. 31, 2026, and the Town will pay Tri-Lakes Humane Society $1,000 for the year of services. Supervisor Clay J. Arsenault moved the authorization; Councilman Thomas L. Donnelly seconded and the board adopted the resolution 4–0.
The resolution directs the Town Clerk to attach a fully executed copy of the agreement as Exhibit A to a certified copy of the resolution and to retain it in the Town's official records.
