PTO and administrators update board on grants, curriculum and special education

Representatives from the Central District 51 PTO, Angela te-Nuyl and Alicia Kamischke, briefed trustees on PTO-awarded grants and upcoming PTO-sponsored events and activities during the Jan. 16 meeting. The PTO update was presented during the agenda's reports section.
Administrators provided routine reports: Mr. Heidbreder reported no building permits for December 2024 and that one FOIA request had been submitted and responded to; he also reminded board members to file Economic Interest Statements with the Tazewell County Clerk's office. Mr. Halpin described curriculum items including a K4 trial of the Typesy keyboarding app and upcoming summative evaluation meetings. Mr. King reported on special education enrollment, legal updates and that the excess cost financial report had been submitted and recognized Trent Halpin for his support. Central Primary and Central Intermediate school staff reported enrollment figures, assessment data (IAR and STAR), safety drills and discipline reporting.
