Assessor reports rising sales, 17 homes under construction and zero county appeals so far

Assessor John Killeen told the board that "New Sales volume has picked up again this month and has returned to the yearly average pace," and that the township is seeing sales above asking price. He said 17 new homes are under construction in Chemung Township, six of which are duplexes.
Killeen said staff made adjustments to assessed values in select neighborhoods to better reflect market equity (for example, downtown adjusted down 8% while neighborhood #39 adjusted up 11%) and that the equalization factor remained at 8.25% for 2025. He reminded residents that the appeal season runs from June 21 to July 21 and reported fewer than 20 assessment changes handled locally and zero appeals filed with the county as of the meeting.
