Springfield Platteview board elects 2026 officers; Smith chosen president

The Springfield Platteview Community Schools Board of Education reorganized for 2026 at its Jan. 12 meeting, electing Lee Smith as board president. Smith was elected by a vote of 6-0 after Brian Osborn nominated him; there were no other nominations.
Kyle Fisher was elected vice president in a contested vote, winning 4-2 after nominations from Brenda Guenther and Lee Smith. The board elected Brett Kreifels as secretary and Michael Patera as treasurer, each by unanimous 6-0 votes. President Smith delegated Vice President Fisher to appoint members to standing committees for the year, and the board appointed Brenda Guenther and Brett Kreifels to serve on the SPCS Education Foundation Board for 2026.
The officers' elections and committee appointments set leadership and committee responsibilities for the coming year and were handled through formal nominations and roll-call votes recorded in the meeting minutes.
