American Pete Technology to build Applied Research Center in Aitkin County

American Pete Technology announced plans to build a two-story Applied Research Center (ARC) at its Rossburg site to bring inoculation and additional research steps in-house. Tamara Lowney, APT’s vice president of business development, said the ARC will let the company "take that process in house with inoculating our own product," moving the company "up the value chain" and adding laboratory capacity the current site lacks.
Lowney described the planned facility as about 6,000 square feet over two floors, with roughly 1,600 square feet on the first floor dedicated to lab work — chemistry, media prep, a microbiology lab, equipment space and a grow area. She said the existing lab footprint is under 400 square feet and the ARC will allow the company to host clients and perform higher-quality testing and quality-control work on products used by row-crop farmers in the U.S. and Canada. Lowney said the ARC is part of a broader R&D push APT has been working on for years and that the new building will support both current inoculation projects and future research efforts.
