Staff provided updates on training and administrative matters, noting the Utah Chapter APA Fall Conference scheduled for Sept. 9–10 in Layton, annual planning commissioner training requirements, Open and Public Meetings Act obligations, and newly required annual ethics training resulting from recent legislative changes. Staff also discussed development of a Planning Commissioner 101 educational program and solicited input on desired training topics.
Staff advised that the next regular Planning Commission meeting is scheduled for August 6, 2026 and that the Land Use Matrix amendments may return for additional review after staff prepares draft language; depending on items, the commission might hold an extra public hearing though only one is legally required for certain actions. Staff reviewed public notice procedures for any subsequent hearings.
