County allocates $1.06 million to replace aging transfer-station vehicles and equipment

The Physical Services Committee approved two capital requests to modernize fleet and equipment serving the county's three transfer stations. The first creates Project No.67 for $860,000 (bonding) to replace a roll-off truck (2007), truck tractor (2008), a 4x4 pickup with plow (2011), a forklift (2007) and a zero-turn mower more than 20 years old. The second authorizes Project No.68 for $200,000, including an $80,000 state reimbursement, to replace two snow pushers, a skid steer and compactor components used across all three stations.
"They are looking to purchase a roll-off truck to replace the current one that is from 2007, a truck tractor to replace the current one from 2008, a 4x4 king cab pickup truck with a plow to replace the current 2011 Ford truck, replace a forklift that was purchased in 2007 and a SCAG zero turn mower that is over twenty years old," Robert Gray said on the record. Committee members moved and the motions carried with unanimous support.
County officials said replacements are necessary to maintain day-to-day operations and to support planned expansions of composting and recycling services. Staff indicated the purchases will be financed by bonding and state reimbursement where applicable and that equipment will be assigned across Transfer Stations 1–3.
