Highway Commissioner Kyle Walter reported several maintenance wins and equipment updates to the Chemung Township trustees Sept. 17, 2025. He said staff spotted a hole on County Line Road caused by a failing culvert, posted signs, closed the road temporarily and "got culverts out there and replaced them with [a] new culvert in about 5 hours," which the minutes describe as "good teamwork." The minutes record the truck #29 F-550 tank replacement and computer recalibration at a repair cost of $6,174.54.
Walter also reported the township sold truck #7, a 6-foot rotary mower and other small items on Wisconsin Surplus Auctions, netting $9,109.58, and completed the third mowing of the season for ditches (including a welded hitch repair). He said staff met with McHenry County DOT regarding bridges on Hunter and White Oaks and received a quote from Majestic Asphalt to blacktop over a newly installed culvert on County Line Road; the minutes say the township may blacktop the Stateline Road shoulder next year to prevent future washouts.
