Dodge County approves $1.18 million LRA grant and uses TSPLOST for variance on resurfacing projects

The Dodge County Board of Commissioners voted July 20 to accept a Local Roads Administration (LRA) grant worth $1,184,273.47 to fund resurfacing on five county roads.
Manager Conner Bearden presented the LRA award and an estimated total project cost of $1,427,426.23, leaving a $243,152.76 variance. Commissioner Sharon Cobb Flanagan moved to approve the list of resurfacing projects, and the motion passed unanimously. Bearden said the variance will be funded by TSPLOST (Transportation Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax) funds.
The resurfacing list includes Ben Giddens Road, Pine Crest Drive, Jessica Lane, Arthur Cooper Road and Nicholson Carr Road. During public comment a resident asked the board to address potholes on Chicken Road; commissioners said the county will address those once state bridge work is done.
The board did not provide construction start dates during the meeting; staff will return with scheduling and procurement details in future reports.
