Dodge County votes to abandon old boat landing; public asks for more parking at new site

The Dodge County Board of Commissioners voted July 20 to abandon the county's old boat landing after county attorneys said the site is no longer viable for boat access.
County Attorney John Harrington told the board the old Dodge County Landing has been superseded by a new, serviceable facility. Commissioner Brian Watkins moved to abandon the site; Commissioner Sharon Cobb Flanagan seconded and the motion passed unanimously.
During public comment an unnamed resident asked the board to expand parking at the new landing; the board did not take immediate action on that request but recorded it for follow-up. The action to abandon the older site was approved as part of the board's old-business agenda.
The vote followed an earlier amendment to the agenda that added the surplus-government-property item. The board did not specify an implementation schedule for removing facilities or transferring title for the old landing.
