Green Mountain Power representatives and town staff briefed the Select Board on a request to run an underground service roughly 140 yards from an existing pole on town-owned buyout land to a private foundation. Town staff said GMP will prepare the easement paperwork for signature after the board grants permission.
Board members raised concerns about FEMA buyout restrictions that limit structures on properties acquired with FEMA funding. The board moved and passed a motion to approve the underground utility for the Ross property "contingent on the approval from the FEMA buyout guidelines," a move the board said would allow the work to proceed once the town confirms compliance. "I would make a motion to approve the underground utility for the Ross property contingent on the approval from the FEMA buyout guidelines," a board member stated during the meeting.
Staff committed to check the FEMA buyout documentation and to provide the board an answer as soon as possible. The board's approval was conditional; construction or installation will only proceed after staff verify the project's permissibility under buyout terms.
