Fire Chief Bendix updated the council on department fundraising for a Lucas mechanical CPR device. He said the effort began at the October pancake breakfast and has generated substantial support from residents.
"At the end of this month, they had raised $16,000 and the machine cost is $20,000," Chief Bendix reported, and explained donation instructions — contributions payable to MSVF may be mailed or dropped off at the fire station on 911 El Portal in the gray mailbox. He thanked residents for their donations and support of the pancake breakfast, which helped seed the fundraising.
Council members expressed appreciation for the volunteer fund-raising effort. No formal council appropriation or commitment to purchase the device was recorded during the meeting; fundraising remains underway.
