Nancy Thill, reading the Tree Board report, said the MDNR grant supported five trees planted Sept. 25 — a Black Gum, two Ironwood, one Dogwood and one Sugar Maple — and that metal fencing was installed to protect them from deer. "Nancy said the estimated dates for planting will be mid -November," the minutes record for upcoming plantings tied to the garden contract with Pizzo Gardens.
Thill said about 33% of Garden Club members volunteered to help with spring plantings and that she met with Beth from Pizzo Gardens to discuss the proposed butterfly garden border treatments and a Monarch Watch registration and certification proposal to involve Day Camp. During public comment, Kathleen Hogan Morrison asked whether the new lawn would increase upkeep costs; the council said there would be no additional cost and that the village will continue routine mowing, leaf clean‑up and tree watering.
Thill also proposed a pergola at the park entrance as funding becomes available and thanked local scout troops for their participation in Arbor Day events.
