Hinckley Council Finalizes Parade, Flags and Event Logistics; Fireworks Salute Canceled

Council Member Skip Taylor outlined logistics for the upcoming community celebration, saying he will arrange parade vehicles with Droubay Chevrolet and coordinate setup. Mayor Alan Miller asked guest Kevin Morris to give the opening invocation at the park program, and the council noted the Youth City Council will present nine donated state flags during the program.
Because of a current fireworks ban the council canceled the morning salute for this year. Parade signups will be held at the rodeo grounds and the lineup will be along 400 N and 200 W; Dan and Delna Bliss were identified as assisting with the parade. Council Member Chris Mork offered to pick up sponsor signs and street banners that are already ordered and ready for pickup in Salem.
The council also confirmed mosquito abatement will spray the park and rodeo grounds and that council and staff will meet at the park Saturday morning at 7:00 AM for setup of canopies, games, and vendor booths. Several celebration-related purchase orders (band, sound, inflatables, restroom trailer) were later approved under the payment-of-bills agenda item.
