Nate Olson, representing the Jason Clearwater Fund, told the committee that the pledge came from funds raised at the group's August 2025 golf outing and that the fund intends to pursue additional fundraising and grant opportunities.
Meeting minutes list proposed work that would be funded or partially funded by the pledge: extending concrete around the concession stand, adding shading or covers over bleachers, repairing the South Pavilion and replacing playground equipment that no longer meets insurance standards. The minutes show an estimate for the submitted updates of approximately $13,000 and an itemized concession-area total of $10,110 in the accompanying cost document.
Olson said the fund "will apply for a 50/50 grant through the Grundy County Community Foundation to seek additional funds to be used." The minutes state the village does not currently have money for the 50 percent match and that the Jason Clearwater Fund may be able to provide matching funds. Committee members noted the improvements would benefit children and future events held at the park.
The Park Committee agreed to place the project on the Village Board agenda for formal approval at the April 13, 2026 meeting. Committee members discussed timing for work and generally preferred starting major work in the fall to avoid disrupting the MVK school baseball season.
