The Village of Michiana Council voted unanimously on June 13 to adopt the 2025–26 municipal budget and approved a separate amendment to the 2024–25 budget that addresses department overages totaling $52,660.
Tim McCarthy moved to amend several General Fund departments to cover overages; the council approved the adjustment after members were told “The General Budget as whole including all departments was under budget by $32,899. The Water Budget was over $36,976.54 due to water usage.” The council then held the final reading and adopted the 2025–26 budget on a 5–0 vote.
Council member Mike Mumper highlighted continuing water-project work and scheduled a meeting with Merritt for Friday, June 20 to push the bid process forward. The decision to adopt the budget closes the formal budget calendar for the coming fiscal year; implementation details and departmental allocations will proceed under the adopted appropriation.
