Michiana and Grand Beach to co‑sponsor police safety building grant; council approves resident survey

The council approved a resolution to co‑sponsor and co‑sign a federal funding proposal for a police safety building as a joint initiative with Grand Beach. Tim McCarthy made the motion to approve the resolution; Mike Mumper seconded and the motion passed. The minutes state the resolution is required for the grant and that both villages are in agreement to move forward with the joint proposal.

Council also approved a draft police survey that may be distributed to residents at a later date (motion by Tim McCarthy; seconded by Mike Botelho). During public comment a resident asked where the new safety building would be sited; the council said there is about four acres on the frontage road near the entrance of Grand Beach that a resident donated to the village.
