Committee presents goals for modernized police station; Planning Commission to survey residents

Mike Mumper presented a short PowerPoint on behalf of the Exploratory Joint Villages Committee and described goals for a future police station: a welcoming facility that improves the work environment, provides space for confidential interviews, includes a secure evidence room and meets modern safety standards. "A new police station should be welcoming to residents and visitors. It should improve the work environment for the police department employees," the presentation said.
The Planning Commission will incorporate questions about station modernization into the Master Plan community survey planned for January so resident input can guide future station planning. No construction funding was approved at the meeting; the item was referred to the Master Plan process for further study.
